Changing your VPS root password will be a cup of tea for you after reading this article.

If you don’t have a control panel for your VPS, don’t worry. We’ll show you how to change it using SSH. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Firstly, access your hosting server using SSH. (Click here if you don't know how to login using SSH)

  2. Once logged in, type in the command - passwd & hit Enter

  3. Set a new password and confirm it

And Bang! Your root password is changed. Wasn’t that super easy?

If you’ve got a cPanel, you need not access your server using SSH. You can do it using WHM. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Login to WHM

  2. In the Server Configuration section, Click on "Change Root Password"

  3. Set a new password and confirm it

  4. Click on "Change Password"

That’s it. Your root password is changed.
