Deprecation of Quickinstall application on Linux Shared Hosting Servers
Posted by on 28 March 2021 01:20 PM

Dear Customer,
In our constant endeavor to improve our Shared Hosting infrastructure, we are removing Quickinstall from our Linux hosting infrastructure so that we can keep them safe from security vulnerabilities.

As an alternative, you can continue to use Softaculous which is installed on the server allowing the same automated install for your application needs.

Existing applications installed using Quickinstall will be imported to Softaculous by us barring the accounts that fall under the below criteria:
1) To ensure a smooth migration and performance, we recommend to ensure that your account disk space is below 50GB and inode or file count is below 250000.

You can check your disk space from either cPanel -> disk usage and check for “total disk space used” or login to the terminal for the domain. Steps to login to the terminal:

Use the “terminal” option in cPanel or a SSH agent like Putty and ssh using the command:
ssh cpanel_username@IPaddress -p2222

For checking the disk space and breakup of disk usage folder wise from terminal, use the command:
du -sch *

For checking the inode/file count with breakup, execute the below-given script from SSH:
echo "Detailed Inode usage for: $(pwd)" ; for d in `find -maxdepth 1 -type d |cut -d\/ -f2 |grep -xv . |sort`; do c=$(find $d |wc -l) ; printf "$c\t\t- $d\n" ; done ; printf "Total: \t\t$(find $(pwd) | wc -l)\n"

2) If the application is not available in Softaculous, it will not be possible for us to import them. The chances of this happening are slim as softaculous has a huge application library and should include most of the applications. Also in any such case, the files for the application will be intact but you will not be able to manage it via Softaculous
