How to Password Protect your Website using cPanel?

Its very easy to Password protect your website or page so that only authorized individuals can access it. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Login to your cPanel.

  2. Scroll down to the Security section.

  3. Click on "Password Protect Directories".

  4. Select the directory ‘web root(public_html/www)’ and click on GO.

  5. Click on the directory that you wish to password protect(For the complete website select 'public_html').

  6. Under Security Settings, Tick the option ‘Password protect this directory’

  7. Enter the directory name that you would like to display.

  8. Click on ‘Save’.

  9. Click on ‘Go Back’

  10. Under create user, enter Username, Password.

  11. Click on ‘Add/Modify authorized user’.

  12. Click on ‘Go Back’.

There you go. You’ve successfully password protected your website.
